The program works with Union Locals, the One-Stop, Business, Community Organizations, the United Way, and workers in need of assistance. The program provides support to unemployed customers through the One Stop by providing information about social services. The program also provides information and referral support to One-Stop Customers involved in to-work activity to help families meet their basic living needs while launching into the world of work. Community Services works with shop stewards through the Community Counselor Training Program that helps members of the local connect to services they need by understanding the benefits available through government and community programs. The program works with the United Way to bring the power of organized labor to the United Way’s fundraising campaigns. As advocates, the Community Services program works with legislative agendas that promote living wage initiatives that stress the importance of a wage base that promotes worker and family self-sufficiency and self-reliance.
